Here is the first Tips & Tricks contribution - feel free to add yours!

I use a lot Vanilla Sugar instead of Vanilla essence.
Here is my recipe which saves you a lot of money, is easy to prepare and can be stored in a jar, ready to use any time you need Vanilla Sugar.

Ingredients
1-2 fresh and moist Vanilla Bean
500 g fine sugar/caster sugar

1 jar Vanilla Beans can be purchased in most speciality Shops/Supermarkets and should be fresh and moist.

Method
Cut Vanilla Bean (longways) open and scrape seeds out and mix them with the sugar in a bowl. Fill the jar and add the empty vanilla bean pod too, for extra flavouring. Tightly close the jar.

Enjoy making your first batch of Homemade Vanilla Sugar!
let me know how you go. Till next time...
Happy baking and enjoy the recipes in my e-book
